Savvy Surveys
Many courses on questionnaire design focus on sampling techniques to achieve a random sample or statistical approaches to analyzing surveys after data are collected. In contrast, this course prioritizes a “front-end” survey design process that enables researchers to collect high quality data in the first place.
Research Landscape
This course is designed to teach students the skills necessary to design and evaluate educational research. It is structured to give students an introduction to the practice of research and a survey of various modes of conceptualization, problem identification, and research designs used in the study of education.
The Science of Learning
The science of learning spans many disciplines (neuroscience, cognitive psychology, sociology, education, etc.) and can be investigated at all levels of analysis from the cellular and molecular bases to the application of principles in formal and informal learning environments. This course will offer an introduction to the fundamental issues in this area as they relate to educational research and practice, broadly defined.
